Community Responsibilities

To realize the maximum benefits of the Enhanced 9-1-1 system, communities must do the following:

  1. Assign an Addressing Officer to act as the community's official information source and to care for maintenance issues.
  2. Convert addresses from rural route style addresses to city-style addresses. Towns that historically had city-style addresses must provide up-to-date addresses ranges.
  3. Post street signs.
  4. Complete Telephone Number Site Matching with local phone companies. This includes assisting with data base error report resolution.
  5. Provide emergency service provider information to the Bureau and report any changes.
  6. Maintain emergency road network by reporting changes and additions.
